Humanities

The theme "mathematics and human sciences" concerns both the application of mathematics to the human sciences (e.g., economics, history, sociology) and the study by the human sciences (e.g., history, philosophy, sociology) of individual and collective mathematical practice.

In the first case, we are particularly interested in the mathematical modeling of phenomena described by the human sciences from a quantitative but also qualitative, i.e. reflexive, point of view.

In the second case, we are interested either in theoretical problems concerning the nature of mathematical knowledge, or in the modes of functioning of the mathematical community.

These two perspectives can also be related to the teaching and the diffusion of mathematics.
