Some slides
Here are the slides of some talks I gave recently, in french or
in english. All are in pdf, they might be quite heavy since
they usually contain pictures. Those are pdf files designed to be
used on a computer, with different things appearing at different
times etc. If you wish to have a printable version let me know.
Some of them are designed for a more general audience and are listed
first. There might be some overlap between those slides, but I'm
trying to keep here only the most recent and up-to-date ones on each
given theme.
- Histoires de polyèdres,
a general audience talk given in a high school (in Albi), Dec. 12, 2005.
Content: old and new results about 3-dimensional polyhedra,
from
Pythagoras to the Bellows conjecture, and beyond.
- Les motifs de cercles et la géométrie hyperbolique : mini-cours,
shown at the "Journées de Géométrie Algorithmique", 01-02/2006.
Partie 1,
Partie 2.
Presents in a fairly general way results on circle patterns, and gives
some broad ideas of the proofs, using them as an excuse to explain
some basic points of 3-dimensional hyperbolic geometry. Designed for
an audience closer to computer science than to hyperbolic geometry.
-
Motifs de cercles sur les surfaces singulières, colloquium talk
at the Institut Fourier, Grenoble, Feb. 16, 2006.
Same as above but shorter and for a general mathematical
audience.
- Minimal surfaces in constant curvature
3-manifolds, talk at the Newton Institute, Oct. 12, 2005.
Some recent results, mostly joint work with Kirill Krasov,
on some geometric properties of AdS manifolds with cone singularities
along time-like lines.
- Variétés de dimension 3 avec
particules, Darboux seminar, Montpellier, Dec. 16, 2005.
Same as above but with extension in various directions, esp.
3-dimensional hyperbolic geometry, and in french.
- On the rigidity of weakly convex
polyhedra, Geometry and topology seminar, U. Penn, Apr. 17,2008.
- Higher Schläfli formulas,
Geometry seminar, Cornell U., Apr. 28,2008.
- Problèmes anciens et nouveaux sur les polyèdres euclidiens.
Colloquium du département de mathématiques de Nantes, Apr. 8, 2010.
handout version or
exposition version.
In english (except the title).
