2008 It's been ten years since I bought my first violin... I think I made substential progress about than, but still it's better to let do those who know what they're doing...
09/07 My latest work, with Koji Fujiwara, on the rareness of one-ended purely pseudo-anosov subgroups of Mapping Class Groups is online (check out my preprint page).
07/07 The journal IJAC says that one of my papers is the most accessed on their website, and for this reason, they make it free for download until the end of the year... Needless to say that I am both surprised and honored, but I would advise to download the ever free (and updated) copy on arxiv...
10/06 I'm coordinator for the ANR financial support of a team of young mathematicians in group theory ! (see logo on the right)
09/06 I've revised and improved my results on equations in relatively hyperbolic groups (see the papers 8 and 9 in my preprint page)
02/06 My latest work with Daniel Groves is online (check it out in my preprint page). It is a solution of Dehn's « isomorphy problem » for a quite wide class of groups, including torsion free hyperbolic groups, limit groups, fundamental groups of finite volume hyperbolic manifolds...
05/05 A work with Asli Yaman on a Margulis Lemma for geometrically finite convergence groups, and an application about asymptotic dimension of some relatively hyperbolic groups has just been published by the electronic (and free) New York Journal of Math.
My thesis (early 2003), and a large part of my recent work, was on relatively hyperbolic groups, a class of groups that, since then, stimulated astonishingly many authors... Take a look here for the incredible list of related papers (that were submitted to the arXiv -- indeed there are many others that were not).
I am Maître de Conférence in Toulouse (France) since 2004.
I can endorse for "math" ! (what is it for ?)
I was awarded the prize "Raymond Poincaré 2004", for my thesis defended in Strasbourg. Do not confuse Raymond Poincaré with his famous cousin, Henri Poincaré... Raymond was not mathematician: he was President of the Republic, in France, in 1913, after what he was promoted President of the Society of Friends of Strasbourg's Universities (and the prize was named after him for this reason).
Here you can find stories
about my trip (may/june '04) in the Transsiberian
